"In East L.A., hardship makes you, so nothing can break-you."

In the barrio, life is tough. Poverty is everywhere, you can't escape it. It has such a hold on you that sometimes it feels...like there is no way out. The good thing about the barrio is that we all have one thing in common..."we all dare to dream."

For some though, dreams become faded and maybe even altered a slight bit, depending on our experiences in the barrio. Hardship is a word we all wished we never knew, but unfortunately, it is one we know very well.

"In East L.A., hardship makes you, so nothing can break-you."

This quote has stuck with me ever since i saw it on a brick-canvas. It was compressed in a tight spot. As if hiding & waiting for someone special to discover her, she was in one-piece.
Many know this was no accident.

It was an obvious sign of respect...

My name is "Ese-Raulito" and this is my story...
